Success of EARTH (Canada)'s TORRT Technology in Japan

CANADA, QUEBEC, MONTREAL, Jun. 21 -/E-Wire/-- Having recently returned from the New Environmental Exposition (NEXPO) 2001 in Tokyo, EARTH (Canada) Corporation (CDNX: EAR) is pleased to report on the success of its attendance at the exhibition as part of Japan External Trade Organization's (JETRO) New Business Showcase.

Being one of only nine owners of emerging and promising Canadian environmental technologies invited by JETRO, EARTH's presentation of its TORRT technology was regarded as a major success at the exhibition. The interest created by TORRT has already led to a trial being undertaken at a major iron works plant for the design and manufacture of hydraulic presses in Saga, near Osaka, and a number of sales enquiries being raised. Several offers were also received for the representation in Japan of EARTH and its technologies, some emanating from major industrial concerns.

The trial for the application of TORRT to the plant's problems of wastewater treatment has already commenced and technical evaluations are currently being made. EARTH has proposed a total solution package to its potential client that addresses the client's environmental compliance needs and these are currently under consideration by the Japanese party and the Kanagawa local authority.

Commenting on the exhibition's success generally, Edward Akkawi, President & CEO, says: "We were very pleased with the reaction and response of companies that visited us during the four day exhibition. I think that, without exaggeration, our booth was probably the busiest and the most visited within the JETRO group". He continues: "Our technology is clearly at the leading edge of hydrocarbon remediation of water and given the priority attached to water quality in Japan, we are confident that we will achieve notable success in the near future".

About EARTH's unique RPA® & TORRT technology: § No waste is created and none needs to be disposed of § It allows full recovery of sorbed oil, including emulsified oils § It is the only reusable hydrocarbon absorbent, making it economically and environmentally friendly to use
