Green Business Letter Celebrates 10th Anniversary By Naming 10 'Greenest' Companies
OAKLAND, CALIFORNIA, Jul. 9 -/E-Wire/-- A leading newsletter on business and the environment is celebrating its 10th anniversary by naming the 10 "greenest" companies.
Also included in the special 10th anniversary issue -- which can be downloaded free from www.GreenBizLetter.com -- are several other "top-10" lists, including the best environmental groups for companies to work with, the best web sites on green-business topics, the best books on business and the environment, the best annual conferences, and several other best-of lists.
"These lists represent the collective observations, experience, and insights of the past decade of reporting on green-business topics," says Joel Makower, editor of The Green Business Letter, a monthly newsletter that calls itself "The Hands-One Journal for Environmentally Conscious Companies."
Makower concedes his list of the "greenest companies" will likely be controversial. "Who are the greenest companies? We get asked this question almost weekly -- by reporters, students, marketing firms, researchers, and others," he says. "Inevitably, we send most such inquisitors packing. We're departing from that stonewalling tactic to name the companies we believe are leading the pack."
In the end, Makower opted for two "best-of" lists -- the 10 "most honored" companies and the 10 "most unappreciated." Included on the latter list are AT&T;, Baxter International, British Airways, Collins & Aikman, Dupont, Ford, McDonald's, Nike, Pitney Bowes, and United Technologies.
Among the other "top-10" lists are:
* best green-business membership organizations
* best research organizations for business
* NGOs worth befriending
* best green business web sites
* best web sites for smaller companies
* best US government resources
* best annual events
* best books on sustainable business
Says Makower: "These highly subjective lists will no doubt incite their share of outrage and objection. We eagerly await the ensuing dialogue."
The special issue can be downloaded at no charge from www.GreenBizLetter.com.
The Green Business Letter is an acclaimed monthly newsletter on leading-edge environmental practices and strategies to help companies integrate environmental thinking throughout their operations. Its editorial mission is to help companies align environmental responsibility with business success.
