Donald Heywood is a distinguished British painter now living in South Africa. In 1992, he was commissioned to paint a life-sized portrait of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. His first book, The Vanishing Faces of Southern Africa, was published in 1994. These portraits of South African people in native costumes were a fitting tribute to the proud traditions of the subcontinent.
Mr. Heywood now applies his talent to the painting and drawing of the wildlife of Africa and has completed a second book, Wildlife Portraits, which is associated with the WWF.
