TO BUSINESS AND ENVIRONMENTAL EDITORS:
Startech Environmental Leases New Manufacturing Space
CONNECTICUT, WILTON, Jul. 12 -/E-Wire/-- Startech Environmental Corp. (Nasdaq: STHK), the world leader in plasma waste remediation and recycling technology, announced today that it has leased 30,000 square feet of clear, high-bay industrial space in Bristol, Connecticut, 5 minutes away from the Startech Demonstration and Training Center in Technology Park.
Joseph Klimek, Executive VP, said, "The space will be used for manufacturing, assembly and as a containerization and staging area. We produce the Plasma Converters in modular configurations to make it easier to ship and easier for the customer to install at his site. Our module-manufacturing technique reduces cost, and also improves quality assurance and customer satisfaction. In addition, our modular design makes it less expensive to ship, especially overseas. For example, it will cost less than $9,000 to ship the Eiko system to Japan. This also means that we could be manufacturing our systems anywhere in the States with the cost of transportation being no obstacle at all. We will now move the Eiko system components to the manufacturing space for completion and shipment."
For more information on the sale to Eiko, see Startech news releases dated February 15, 2001, March 20, 2001 and May 10, 2001.
About Startech Environmental Corp: Startech is an environmental equipment company whose Plasma Converter is essentially an electrochemical system that, while safely destroying wastes, even hazardous wastes, converts those materials into useful and valuable commodity products. It does this economically, efficiently, with relatively few moving parts, and without combustion. The prime mover in the Plasma Converter process is the chemical dissociation (decomposition) of the feed materials after which their elemental components (atoms) are reformed into useful commodities. The United States Environmental Protection Agency has designated materials, even if they may have once been regarded as wastes, or hazardous wastes, undergoing such a recycling process, no longer as wastes, but as "feedstocks."
