TO BUSINESS AND ENVIRONMENTAL EDITORS:

GYP-SPAN Radiant by Hacker Industries, Inc. is Chosen

For the Millennium II Showcase Home

CALIFORNIA, NEWPORT BEACH, Jul. 12 -/E-Wire/-- Did you know that pollution inside a home can reach levels one hundred times greater than pollution found outdoors? The air quality of our indoor environment effects not only our health, but can frequently contribute to structural degradation and building problems within the home. Common pollutants such as radon, lead dust, asbestos, molds, pet dander and pollen are a recognized threat to respiratory health and poor indoor air quality can result in rotting within the walls and attic and around window framing from excess moisture. The magnitude of this problem prompted the Environmental Protection Agency to list poor indoor air quality as the fourth largest environmental threat to our country. To draw attention to a healthier way of building that addresses and corrects these concerns, The American Lung Association created a national education program called the Health House project.

The Millennium II is Illinois' first health house, designed by Architect Bill Styczynski of Styczynski, Walker & Associates. The premise of the home's design was conceived with the intent to educate construction professionals and homeowners about the benefits of building "Green," lessening indoor air pollution and controlling energy loss. This state of the art showcase home will meet the criteria set forth by the American Lung Association of Minnesota for building healthier and more energy efficient homes, while raising the standards for better indoor environments.

Sevvonco, Inc., the award winning custom home builder of this 10,000 square foot luxury residence located in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, recruited the construction industries' top manufacturers to donate their products for use in the Health House. Sevvonco, Inc. selected the premier supplier of gypsum concrete floor underlayments, Hacker Industries, Inc., to donate GYP-SPAN Radiant as the energy efficient, crack resistant thermal mass for use over the radiant heating floor system. Gypsum Floor Systems LLC, a Licensed Applicator of Hacker Floor Underlayments located in Goshen, Indiana, was retained by Hacker Industries, Inc. to install the 6,400 square feet of GYP-SPAN Radiant needed on the main floor of the home.

How does GYP-SPAN Radiant contribute to this design emphasis on energy efficiency? Designed specifically for use over hot water tubes or electric cables, GYP-SPAN Radiant adheres to the tubes or cables without air pockets and seals the room perimeter without shrinkage cracks, allowing for even distribution of heat without hot spots or wasted energy. GYP-SPAN Radiant, formulated with gypsum and a heat inhibitor, provides an excellent thermal mass and an environmentally sound surface for finished floor coverings.

The Millennium II home is scheduled for completion in the in last week of July 2001. Public relations and educational activities will begin in August, with open houses, charity fundraisers, trade events and builders meetings. In mid-September, 2001, the house will close to the public when the private owner of the Millennium II takes residence of this unique, environmentally sound architectural triumph.

Virtually any structure can be made more energy efficient and environmentally sound. To receive information about the benefits of Hacker Floor Underlayments, or for the Licensed Applicator in your area, please call Hacker Industries, Inc. at (800) 642-3455 or e-mail: [REDACTED-EMAIL]
