Solpower Corporation - Soltron Significantly Reduces Sulfur Emissions in South Carolina Power Plant

PHOENIX, ARIZONA, Oct. 23 -/E-Wire/-- Solpower Corporation (OTC BB: SLPW) - an environmental solutions company, is pleased to announce the results of field tests of Soltron(TM), the company's enzyme based fuel additive, at South Carolina Electric & Gas ("SCE&G;'). After successful laboratory testing, CE&G; treated the entire diesel fuel supply at their Hagood Station Power Plant with Soltron(TM). The test engine was a Westinghouse Model 501D5 Gas Turbine Peaker operating at 85 MW. In just four hours, SCE&G; lowered sulfur dioxide (SO2) emissions by more than 35%. SCE&G; is the first US public utility company to effectively use Soltron(TM) as a tool in reducing harmful emissions and pollutants.

John Flitter, General Manager, Fossil Fuels Procurement for SCE&G; stated, "These numbers are absolutely incredible. We are very pleased with the performance of Soltron and plan to treat diesel-powered generators at additional plants. He further added, 'Additional testing will be conducted to monitor fuel economy as well for our fleet of public buses."

SO2 emissions have been identified as the largest contributor to acid rain and utility companies spend millions of dollars each year to mitigate SO2 from their exhaust stream. Power generation is one of the most tightly controlled industries in the nation, and there is constant pressure on power plants to find new technologies to reduce their environmental impact. A SO2 gas scrubber can cost more than $80 million. Using Soltron(TM) can save utility companies millions of dollars and effectively reduce their pollution.

Jim Hirst, CEO of Solpower Corporation commented, "Soltron(TM) technology has been proven and accepted in rail, marine and now the power industry. We are rapidly expanding into these industrial markets and anticipate increased orders as a result of the success of Soltron(TM).'
