Nima Hunter, Inc. Announces Landmark Multi-Client Study: The Greening of Print

Study to Assess Impacts of Environmentally Preferable Publishing, Packaging & Printing Practices

NEW YORK, NEW YORK, Nov. 30 -/E-Wire/-- Nima Hunter, Inc. announced the first in a series of benchmark "Greening of Print" studies and the launch of the website www.greeningofprint.com. These studies will survey and forecast trends, behaviors and predisposition toward "beyond compliance" environmental and sustainability practices by Global 2000 companies.

The printing, packaging and publishing industry generates more than US$1 trillion in annual revenue, worldwide. To achieve this requires an abundant and affordable supply of paper, petro-chemical based materials, and energy. Meanwhile, print buyers, government agencies, financial analysts and consumers are demanding more environmentally responsible procurement, product lifecycle planning and supply chain management. The balance of this supply/demand equation will dominate boardroom discussions, purchasing decisions and pressroom investments for years to come.

The first Greening of Print study, due for release in June 2002, will provide CEOs, CFOs, Environmental Health and Safety, Strategic Planning, Marketing and Procurement Executives with pragmatic information to guide the development of timely, appropriate and profitable sustainability strategies related to printing and packaging. It will address key concerns that should be top-of-mind for executives including:

* How will the environmentally responsible purchasing practices and sustainability initiatives of Global 2000 firms impact the procurement of printing and packaging?

* What changes in production technologies, raw materials and business processes will be required to meet requirements for environmentally preferable printing and packaging?

Sustainability Requires Action 'Beyond Compliance'

"A decade ago, the environmental agenda of US business was dominated by compliance with EPA regulations, and environmental compliance was often seen as a cost burden," explains Don Carli, President of Nima Hunter, Inc. "Today, more and more companies are recognizing that compliance alone is no longer sufficient and that 'business as usual' is not sustainable. Increased emphasis on sustainability by the Global 2000 will compel supply chain managers and corporate buyers to purchase equipment, paper, ink, supplies, and printing in manner that extends beyond what is required of them by regulatory law or industry convention… a trend Nima Hunter calls, 'The Greening of Print'. Reducing the environmental footprint of the publishing, packaging and printing industries can have significant impacts on sustainable development."

Nima Hunter, Inc., located in New York City, has conducted qualitative and quantitative market research for leading graphic arts manufacturers, publishers, service providers and associations since 1986.
