Perma-Fix Environmental Services, Inc. Secures $6,000,000 Credit Facility

ATLANTA, GEORGIA, Feb. 20 -/E-Wire/-- Perma-Fix Environmental Services, Inc. (Nasdaq:PESI - news; Germany:PES.BE) announced today that it has finalized a new short term credit facility with BHC Interim Funding, L.P. ("BHC') for up to $6.0 million. The initial draw of $3.5 million was received at Closing, with the remaining $2.5 million to be drawn subject to PESI meeting certain conditions.

The credit facility has a term of 14 months and will be used to complete construction of M&EC;'s advanced mixed waste treatment facility, as part of PESI's contract with M&EC;, located on the U.S. Department of Energy's K-25 nuclear weapons plant in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. M&EC; presently holds three U.S. Department of Energy subcontracts to treat chemically hazardous, nuclear waste (mixed waste) produced throughout the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) system. The facility is expected to be completed by the end of March 2001. On February 14, PESI announced that it had signed a definitive agreement to purchase M&EC;, subject to certain conditions being met.

Dr. Louis F. Centofanti, President and CEO of PESI commented that, "Securing this financing will assist us in the completion of construction of the M&EC; facility and to move forward with the DOE in treating hazardous, nuclear waste generated by DOE during the cold war, which has up to now been stored throughout the DOE system. BHC, an affiliate of Brooks, Houghton & Company, Inc., is based in New York and provides interim and bridge capital to U.S. middle market companies that are seeking capital on a timely basis to facilitate permanent equity and debt financing, acquisitions, recapitalization and growth. The typical investment ranges from $2 million to $20 million with a term of up to 24 months.
