Mail Handling Made Safer: American Air Filter Adds The MailShelter(TM) To Its Line of Airborne Threat Filtration Systems
KENTUCKY, LOUISVILLE, Dec. 6 -/E-Wire/-- AAF International®, manufacturer of AmericanAirFilter® products and the world's largest dedicated air filtration company, today introduced the MailShelter, specifically designed to minimize the risk of inhalation or cutaneous Anthrax or other airborne infectious diseases in mail handling and sorting applications.
Sized to accommodate and completely encapsulate standard mail delivery boxes, the MailShelter incorporates a "glove box' attached to an industrial dust collector equipped with HEPA filtration. This design allows the mail sorter to be securely isolated from the mail while sorting and handling. The cabinet is configured to allow mail to be delivered easily to a mail-bin outside the cabinet -- once it has been safely opened and inspected. Ad-mail, envelopes, wrapping and packaging products are all disposed of safely into an easily accessed, plastic bag-lined container located inside the MailShelter.
The MailShelter utilizes the height of technology in HEPA filtration to minimize the danger of airborne contamination. Strategically located air inlet slots sweep the interior of the glove box, ensuring negative pressure inside the cabinet, which prevents air or dust from escaping. All air passes through the filtration system. The HEPA filter is rated and factory tested to capture at least 99.97% of all particles 0.3 microns in size and larger. This filter will capture 99.999% of all particles down to 1 micron in size, which is acknowledged to be the lower size range of Anthrax spores.
The introduction of the MailShelter follows on the heels of AAF's development of the AirShelter(TM), a safe room which can be established within a structure through the creation of a positive-pressure environment. The AirShelter provides individuals in potentially compromised environments a place to gather and isolate themselves from a biological airborne contaminant, providing extremely clean air for the inhabitants. Adaptable to a variety of applications, it is virtually 100% effective in removing particles in the size range of anthrax spores (1 - 2 microns). For larger areas, such as entire buildings, American Air Filter also offers the same AirShelter capability, with the addition of Bag-In/Bag-Out systems that contain HEPA filters and which can be customized to add protection against airborne chemical and nuclear threats as well.
With the introduction of the MailShelter, American Air Filter now offers a comprehensive line of solutions that offer safety and peace of mind to individuals, companies and governmental agencies in dealing with current and potential threats.
