Dana Corportaion Selected As 'Best Of The Best' Among Axle Suppliers In Industry Survey
Automotive Industries Magazine Recognizes Top Suppliers in Annual Quest for Excellence Rankings
OHIO, TOLEDO, Dec. 14 -/E-Wire/-- Dana Corporation (NYSE: DCN) announced today that it has received top honors in the Axles and Components category of Automotive Industries magazine's ranking of the top automotive suppliers.Â
Dana received the gold award in the annual Quest For Excellence survey of original-equipment manufacturers who ranked suppliers in five categories â quality, price, delivery, service/response, and innovation.  The survey, conducted by Automotive Industries, is in its fourth year, and at least one Dana group has been recognized by the survey each year.Â
In awarding the honors, Andy Cummins, publisher of Automotive Industries, said, "To be ranked by one's customer as the 'best of the best' is quite an achievement and one not to be taken lightly.  How many of us wish that our customers held us in such high esteem that they would take the time to complete a lengthy survey to ensure we got the recognition we so richly deserved?"Â
Dana Chairman and CEO Joe Magliochetti said, "This is an especially gratifying distinction in that our customers ranked us best in class when compared to many significant competitors.  We are certainly proud of the people in our Traction Technologies Group who have worked so diligently to delight our customers by offering cost effective and innovative breakthrough technologies, such as the Hydra-Lok⢠limited-slip differential, the TXT⢠differential, and the electronic Dual Advantage⢠dual-disconnect system."Â
Future advancements planned by Dana's Traction Technologies Group include the new AdvanTekä series.  The series will incorporate a variety of traction-enhancing features, which will address the future needs of vehicle platforms â including ride enhancements, reduced noise, improved handling, and better fuel economy.  The AdvanTekä series is slated for release early next year in support of vehicle platforms in 2005 and beyond. Dana's Traction Technologies Group has 25 manufacturing, assembly, and research facilities in 16 countries supporting a global customer base.  The goal of the Traction Technologies Group is to transfer any form of power into motion through the use of advanced technologies for traction control, noise refinement, stability enhancement, and fuel efficiency for the vehicular market.Â
The Traction Technologies Group is part of Dana's Automotive Systems Group, a leading provider of under-the-vehicle integration technology designed to improve overall vehicle handling, performance, and comfort.  The group offers advanced drivetrain torque and traction technologies, chassis design solutions, advanced modularity concepts, complete integrated systems engineering, and program and logistics management.  Its products include Spicerâ axles, drivelines, and structural products; GETRAGâ differentials, PTUs, and transaxles; Tremecâ transmissions; Nakataâ steering and suspension systems; and FTEâ brake and clutch actuation systems.Â
