TO SCIENCE AND ENVIRONMENT EDITORS:
Itronics CEO Dr. John Whitney to Tell Atlanta and St. Louis Investors That
Company is Solving Two Major National Environmental Problems
RENO, NEVADA, Feb. 20 -/E-Wire/-- Itronics Inc. (OTCBB:ITRO - news), a world leader in photochemical recycling, will make presentations to investors and potential investors this week in Atlanta and St. Louis. These presentations will emphasize that the processes it has developed to extract silver from photowastes and to turn the resulting liquids into beneficial fertilizers are solving two major national environmental problems.
"There are approximately 100 million gallons of silver-bearing photochemical waste generated each year in the U.S., and about 70 percent of these chemicals are still disposed into the nation's sewer systems, a major national concern," Dr. John Whitney, Itronics CEO, will tell the investor conferences.
Dr. Whitney will tell the investors that the proprietary process developed by Itronics recovers 99.997 percent of the silver and all other toxic metals from the photochemical wastes and that the purified photochemicals are then recycled into the high quality GOLD'n GRO liquid fertilizer products. By doing this, the waste stream is completely put to beneficial use.
Itronics is also helping to solve the growing concern about contamination of agricultural lands caused by fertilizers containing toxic metals. The entire line of GOLD'n GRO fertilizers is manufactured using photochemicals from which the toxic metals have been removed. Distilled water is used in the formulations and only the highest quality additives, including feed grade phosphates are used, producing a very environmentally clean line of products.
"The total domestic fertilizer market which Itronics is targeting exceeds $10 billion," Dr. Whitney will tell the investor conferences, "and GOLD'n GRO formulations are tailored to meet the specific nutritional programs of turf farms, golf courses, alfalfa, citrus, wine grapes and wholesale nurseries and for home use." The products for the lawn and home are available via the Internet at the Company's Web site at http://www.Itronics.com.
"On a single shift at our new plant in Stead, Nevada, we can annually process 700,000 gallons of used liquid photochemicals, recover for sale 240,000 ounces of silver and gold, and produce 2.4 million gallons of fertilizer," Dr. Whitney will tell the Atlanta and St. Louis investors. "I am excited that we are able to start the year with an operational plant and a fertilizer sales force in the field. This year we expect to achieve successful commercial fertilizer sales. Our goal is to achieve profitability by the end of the year."
Itronics will also discuss its near term plant expansion plans, with a Phase II bulk fertilizer storage installation and a consumer products packaging line to be completed this year and a Phase III program to expand the refinery, add rail service, and to install additional bulk fertilizer storage within the next two years, with actual timing depending on construction permits and financing.
"These visits to Atlanta and St. Louis are part of our continuous outreach program. During the past year we have visited 36 major cities and made 45 presentations," Dr. Whitney said. "We are pleased that our efforts to tell the Itronics story to targeted brokers, financial advisors and fund managers nationwide has helped increase the investor base and shareholder liquidity."
