Williams Energy/ThermoEnergy Sign Agreement
LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS, Jan. 31 -/E-Wire/-- ThermoEnergy Corporation (TMEN) announced today that Williams Energy (WMB) of Tulsa, Oklahoma and the Company entered into a base contract for the short-term sale and purchase of natural gas. The Company will market the gas to utilities and other end-users throughout the United States through its Energy Resources Division headquartered in Denver, Colorado.
Williams Energy is a global energy resources company and one of the leading suppliers of energy products in the U. S., marketing some 15 Bcf of natural gas and 227,000 barrels of NGL daily. "To be associated with a company that has such a broad energy portfolio as Williams Energy is a tremendous asset to ThermoEnergy,' said William McCabe, VP of Energy Marketing at ThermoEnergy. "We plan to build on this relationship in the future, eventually expanding it to include other key energy resources', said McCabe.
Marketing a broad range of energy resources is the first step in the 5-year plan to position ThermoEnergy as a leading trader of greenhouse gas emission credits (GHG). The Company's energy trading model is closely tied to the development of its new clean energy technology known as the ThermoEnergy Integrated Power System, or TIPS process. TIPS converts fossil fuels and biomass into energy with zero air emissions. One of the by-products of the TIPS process is removing and capturing carbon dioxide (CO2) in liquid form for sequestration or beneficial reuse. TIPS can remove and capture up to three tons of liquid CO2 for every one ton of coal burned in a TIPS power plant. "Each TIPS plant will generate thousands of GHG emission credits daily that will be marketed through the Denver office,' said McCabe. TIPS is equally effective as a retrofit for existing power plants or for new plant construction.
ThermoEnergy is a diversified technologies company engaged in the commercialization of patented and/or proprietary municipal and industrial wastewater treatment and power production technologies. Additional information on the company and its technologies can be found on its web site at www.thermoenergy.com.
