FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NAEM Crisis Management Workshop
DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, WASHINGTON, Feb. 28 -/E-Wire/-- NAEM's Crisis Management Workshop is a one and a half day workshop March 21-22, 2002 in Washington, D.C. designed to increase your ability to develop and implement programs to cope with a variety of emergency situations. Since Sept. 11, we no longer ask ourselves whether a crisis will occur, but rather when the crisis will take place and the form it will take. Managers must think about the unthinkable to protect their staffs and organizations. The better an organization can anticipate areas of vulnerability, the better it can prepare to manage them. Every organization has the need for a crisis management strategy. However, many of the recent crises have left organizations overtaken by events and unable to identify risk. At this workshop leading organizations will discuss a range of strategies and tactics that are essential for safeguarding against the consequences of a crisis. While strategic planning alone will not prevent a crisis, case studies will show you that rigorous risk assessment, crisis planning, and employee education and coordination are essential for developing a culture within your organization that promotes effective crisis management.
This one and a half-day workshop examines such topics as: characteristics and elements of a crisis, the case for effective crisis management as an extension of existing emergency response plans, and assessing your organization's state of crisis preparedness. It is not only geared toward the EHS professional, but also security managers, production managers, and emergency planning staff. The purpose of the Crisis Management workshop is to increase your ability to develop and implement programs to cope with a variety of emergency situations. The workshop teaches and motivates managers to develop policies and programs for the prevention of, preparation for, response to, and recovery from incidents that might occur. The workshop will provide you with comprehensive crisis management skills by presenting case studies on crisis planning, team effectiveness, and the role of internal communications and coordination. Learn real solutions for real problems from your peers.
